Police investigating allegations of theft from fund

Cayman News Service(CNS): Officers from the RCIPS Financial Crimes Unit are investigating allegations of theft from a fund at a local investment firm. Police have confirmed that a complaint was made on 8 April from the local office of an investment firm regarding the theft of an undisclosed amount of money by one of its employees from a fund managed on behalf of clients. Sources told CNS that the theft could be as much as a quarter of a million dollars and involves one of Cayman’s larger financial institutions.

While the police confirmed that they are now investigating the complaint, they stressed that at this point no arrests have been made in connection with the allegations.
