Crash on North Church Street, Grand Cayman, 6 April 2016

(CNS): The police are urging the driver of a white Honda Civic involved in a serious, single-vehicle crash last night to seek medical attention and turn himself in to the authorities. The man, who is believed to have been hurt in the crash on North Church Street in George Town at about 10pm last night, fled the scene, leaving behind his two injured teenage passengers. Police said the boys, both juveniles, sustained serious but not life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital, where they are now stable awaiting surgery.

The police said the Civic was heading into central George Town when it veered across the street and ran into an abandoned house at 127 North Church Street next to Da Fish Shack restaurant. The driver left the car before the police or emergency services arrived.

“We are asking that the driver of the vehicle, who we suspect is also injured, to obtain necessary medical treatment immediately, and turn himself in to police,” an RCIPS spokesperson added.

Anyone with information about the collision or the whereabouts of the driver is asked to call the Traffic Management Unit at 946-6254.  Anonymous tips can be provided via the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).

And this is exactly why the RCIPS has no respect and the criminals thrive on their incompetence. Given the size of this island and two witnesses that know the driver there is absolutely no excuse for not aprehending him or her within hours!!!

The most ridiculous thing is that the car is still sitting there, half-beneath the house, for all the tourists to take pictures of… Fan-freaking-tastic RCIPS!

    My wife calls this parking….

The car must have been stolen. The parents of the driver must be aware of what he has done, but this is what the police and the Commissioner are up against – no co-operation from the public especially where locals are involved.

Honestly, why do they care that he seeks medical attention? He/She clearly doesn’t give a crap about anyone else’s life or health.

Just do your job and find the person responsible

Perhaps he left some blood in the car. Take some freaking samples and run a DNA test to help identify him!

At least there is one less crappy Civic on the road.

Hmm the invisible driver… maybe one of the two teens is the driver…naah, wouldn’t dare think of that, said the cop guy..

    Ooooh look it’s a new drive-thru.

Surely the 2 teens who were in the car would be able to identify the driver?
