Just search “Cayman motorbikes” on YouTube and there are several videos of these hot dog riders performing tricks and wheelies from Savannah all the way to Hurley’s.

Some of the riders are obviously skilled bike handlers who have spent a lot of money on their machines. However, they are certainly riding in a manner that is dangerous to the other drivers on the public road system. And the bikes do not appear to have license plates.

I guess the RCIPS doesn’t have access to the CCTV system or the Internet. Talk about ignoring the issues.

its pretty simple, if the police catch someone on a vehicle without insurance, license and all that jazzy stuff, then crush the bike, car, truck, what ever it is.. A bit of advice to the police though to lock the gates where the vehicles are kept so these guys dont just take them back!! watching that video is basically telling the police there a bunch of fools. doesn’t any officer want to get these guys off the roads??

Two days ago a dirt bike came past me just as I was exiting onto the main Savannah high street. It was pitch dark. He was standing up doing a wheelie at 50 mph, with no lights, and presumably no insurance, vehicle licence or driver’s licence. There were two of them that night. Their little group of four circulate around Hirst Road, Savannah, Patrick’s Island and the Bypass most evenings. They need to be stopped.

Suzuki DR 750 “Desert Express” is a big 728cc trail bike. To put things in perspective, to qualify to ride a motor bike in Cayman, you must be 17, pay prescribed fees, and pass both a written and practical driving exam to obtain a learners to ride Group 0 (moped/scooter) or 1 (any bike under 125cc). Even with a Group 0, you are not allowed to ride anything over 125cc for at least a year. You must be at least 19 to apply for a Group 1A learner’s license, for any bike over 125cc – with an application fee, another exam fee, and upon proof of completion of a basic rider-safety course. There is effort involved.

This person skipped the required effort, was clearly riding illegally and should be publicly charged, fined and sanctioned. RCIPS needs to show a willingness to enforce our laws and publicize that it is now doing so! That’s the message we need!

I agree with your statement 100 percent, however I’m sure he was riding a DRZ 70 which is a smaller dirt bike. Same rule applies though as this isn’t street legal.

Pretty hopeless situation when our uniformed best can’t even transcribe the bike description correctly.

    • Shhhhhhhhhh. says:

FACT – The insurance companies refuse to provide insurance mostly, creating a small army of frustrated teens and under-twenty-fivers who are therefore NOT allowed to even license their bike. This needs to be looked at, as the system is a major cause of this problem. This problem needs intervention, otherwise it is a reccuring nightmare of law breaking and defiance. Help get them legal via insurance, rider training programmes etc and this can mostly be cleaned up. Lets get creative and solve this mess. What say you “Mr”. Government?

It is an 18 year old man, not a boy. He may be acting like a boy, but he is a man.

  8. Concerned citizen says:

It’s probably the same yellow dirt bike I almost took down when he cut my off on hurts road…

  9. bob says:
