Regional football body on hunt for top execs

Cayman News Service(CNS): The beleaguered regional football body CONCACAF has sought outside help to find two new executives after most of its previous management team was arrested in the massive international scandal gripping the sport. The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football officials said they had hired two leading executive search firms to oversee the search for a general secretary and chief legal/compliance officer.

As well as a passion for football and the usual management skills, the association is likely to be placing integrity high on the requirements list for the jobs.

In a statement the organization said, “CONCACAF is entering a new phase of governance and management, and a robust executive search process is required to find individuals to lead the Confederation in two very important areas. For the development of football across our region to flourish, CONCACAF needs to continue professionalizing its operations by identifying the right leaders to implement reforms and maintain the Confederation’s growth and stability.”

CONCACAF’s executive searches are in their beginning stages and the Confederation expects each process to be complete within a few months. The firms hired are Korn Ferry, which has a track record in sport recruitment, and Major, Lindsey & Africa, a legal search firm.

Isn’t this an opportunity for all the soon to be paroled lifers at Northward to repay society by running CIFA and then be elevated to responsible positions at CONCACAF

Surely the headline should read “FBI on hunt for top execs of Regional football body”

But I thought it was the Captain’s turn to be in charge!

Kim Jung-Un is also looking for some new Generals. Why would any rational and moral person intentionally enter the burning building that is FIFA/CONCACAF/CIFA when the proverbial Fire Crews have not been admitted to the premises?

My friend, unless some serious deep house cleaning is done there will be business as usual before you know it. FIFA has about $1.5 billion dollars in cash reserves and revenues of about $5 billion every world cup cycle, good reason to enter the building. Locally, CIFA will be receiving about $5.5 million in the next 4 years, the current acting president says he will not enter the elections for the permanent president position, however, he is willing to stay as VP? Wonder, why, and how the current CIFA exco is trying to spin this off? Will they support a friend for the position? The member clubs should be very aware!!

What? They need to look no further than the “local attorney” who is personally sponsoring football in the Cayman Islands? I am sure he meets all requirements!
