Just asking… does this child go to school with his hair like that or does he perhaps remove the braids and fluff it up?

When will our schools instill some serious dress codes! When they had serious dress codes we had parents barking down the schools’ throats because their children were being “picked on” because of their hair!!!

If you cannot look at your son and picture him sitting in a high-back leather chair with a “CEO” plaque in front of him because of the ghetto-urban hair-do… then please visit your nearest barber for some assistance!

At least that will be one problem out of the way! I am super disgusted by the mohawks and fades running around school campuses, kids looking like they are fresh out of the Bronx public High School system, it is a disgrace!

Parents need to sit-down and educate their children about the origination of some of their fashion statements and wanted hair-styles – why are we allowing our youth to follow a culture drenched in murder, rape, child abuse/neglect, gangs and brutality?!

My God, there should be a mobile barber out from John Gray High School and Clifton Hunter gates!

Anyway, at least he’s found, right?

Haircut doesn’t define a person. Let the kids express their individuality.

Outer appearances matter! They definitely matter to employers!

Everyone has a right to express themselves but, if they need a job then unfortunately they need to wake up and realize that they need to fit in.

You are so right, appearance matters a whole lot. I believe there is a huge disconnection with some young people in Cayman now. Parents and grandparents as well as social groups used to instill our heritage of being hardworking, well groomed, honesty and other such morals in our younger people but I am afraid that link is now missing in some families. These stories have been replaced by the media which is mostly unfit to watch. Parents need to get back to the dining tables with their youth and eat and talk together. Turn off the phones and spend an hour or so at the dinner table. That was where I imparted most of my teachings and values to my children and I am proud to say that they are doing the same with their children. I do realise life is harder now, even though we have all the gadgets like, microwaves, toasters, food processors and blenders that should make it easier but whether mums and dads are working two jobs and hustling to make ends meet, they really need to set aside one day a week to eat and share with their kids. Tell them positives stories of their grandparents, or someone else’s grandparents to try to impart to them that there are some good things in their DNA that they can force to the top and get inspired by. Let your boys know that there is nothing more pleasing to the eye than to see them with nicely trimmed hair, clothes that fits well. if they must fit in, then let it be with the above average on the mountain tops and not those at the bottom of the ditches. The earlier you can pass this on to them the better it will be. If you do this you will save your sons ( daughters too- because these boys are going to come looking for your girls).

As a 51 year old professional – I am shocked to see so much negative reactions based on a flicking hairstyle… which I happen to think looks absolutely fine. If I were in the business of hiring people, I certainly would not let haircuts or appearances put me off – I would rather rely on merit, the strength of character of the individual wearing the clothes and hairstyle.

There is nothing wrong with his hair and he is too young for a job. Get a life!

What a nonsense. This child’s hair is perfectly fine.

What relevance does any child’s haircut have to the question of education? Your comment is the height of ignorance I thought the world had gotten over that kind of prejudice years ago but unfortunately people like you still exist to prove me wrong.
