Cops urge public to watch out for stolen TVs

Cayman News Service(CNS): Following a burglary at the electronics store, Brandsource, in the industrial area of George Town on Monday night or Tuesday morning, the police are urging the public to be vigilant when buying televisions from people rather than retail traders. During the break-in at the shop on Dorcy Drive, which was discovered by staff just before 8am on 2 February, the burglars stole various goods, including a number of television sets, specifically, Samsung, LG and Toshiba.

“We are asking the public to be vigilant when purchasing items from persons other than authentic business traders in order to avoid being a party to the offence of handling stolen goods,” an RCIPS spokesperson said Friday in a release asking people to look out for the stolen TV sets. “Members of the public should be especially suspicious of items sold by private persons at very cheap prices.”

Anyone with information are asked to contact the George Town CID at 949-4222 or call the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).

By any chance did anybody find my 3 TV taken last week from my home in east end ??? The one has my name on the back scratched into it perhaps when the police find it they will remember it from the last time they recovered it. The other has colorful duct tape that my children outlined on it shouldn’t be hard to find

How in the world you can transfer TVs off island without well oiled machine that includes members of Customs and Police who keep their eyes closed. There would be no burglaries of that was not the case. The stuff need to be moved off island and is moving. Public to watch out? Is it another joke?

The police could have given a lot more information on the tvs so that one would be more hesitant to buy , and also said the consequences for purchasing stolen goods. I wonder if the custom at the dock and Airport is aware and a eye on the canoes .
