George Town man arrested after early morning stabbing

(CNS) A 34-year-old man from George Town has been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) following an altercation in the early hours of Monday morning. Police said they were alerted by hospital staff after the victim arrived at the hospital emergency room in George Town by private car with stab wounds to his abdomen. The man told officers that he had been stabbed during an argument at a house on School Road.

Uniformed officers went to the address and made enquiries at around 3:30am looking for the suspect. Some time later, the 34-year-old man turned up at the George Town Police Station, where he was arrested and where he remains in custody, police said.

The victim underwent surgery and is currently in stable condition.
