Helen Kilpatrick, Governor of the Cayman Islands

(CNS): Recognizing the kindness and benevolence of the Cayman Islands community and the huge scale of charitable efforts by the public, the governor is urging people to remain charitable throughout the festive period and look out for those in need, especially the elderly. In her Christmas New Year Message, Helen Kilpatrick, who will be staying in Cayman for the holidays, said that taking care of our elderly friends and relatives is always important, but Christmas is “a special opportunity to provide them with the love and support that they deserve”.

“Christmas is, of course, a time to celebrate with family and friends, but it is also a time to think about those who are not as fortunate as our selves. We must continue to assist our neighbours, especially those who are in financial difficulty or who are sick or elderly, and to look out for children who may need our help,” Kilpatrick said, as she gave a special thanks to the emergency services personnel who will work through the holidays.

Please continue to pay for the vital social services that CIG cannot or will not pay for because they have spent all the cash on vanity projects, voter groups hobby horses or maintaining a grossly inefficient civil service.

A message that is empty unless Madam Governor you will be one of the ones opening your doors for the homeless, dispossessed, poor of the cayman Islands this Christmas.

Sell the jaguar for charity Governor. You could help make thousands happy this time of year. Ho Ho Ho

Does anyone really care about these sanitized, politically correct ‘messages’. Aren’t we supposed to be nice to people all year round and as long as we live? But in the spirit of Christmas I will refrain on telling you where to stick your ‘message’

She’s still here? Could have fooled me.

Lets see if the Government can be charitable……peace to all men, woman, expats and homosexuals!

    • Anonymous says:

or even expat homosexuals as clearly the locals have caught homosexuality from us!

      • Anonymous says:

We are always charitable to expats- that has been our undoing. However being hospitable and changing our laws and Christian beliefs to please the two groups you mention is unacceptable.

Go on, do tell us why recognising the legal effectiveness of a foreign marriage in any way affects your beliefs. Is your faith that weak? I have freedom of religion and worship gods other than the one you believe in. I break your Ten Commandments every day. That is not affecting your belief, so why is this much lesser issue so important?

I hope Her Excellency will practice what she is preaching along with ALL MLAs and other senior government civil servants. God knows they can afford it and should be giving forward.

    Dear Helen Kirkpatrick,
Thank you for saying Christmas. I am sure that you like me, enjoyed many traditional Christmasses in the beautiful UK. Caymanians can only dream. They were great days, n’est ce pas?
    Merry Christmas, Madam Governor.
As they say in the Caribbean, “Respect Mon.”
Hoping for good governance in ’16.
    Kubal.

Is this to compensate for the uncharitable attitude of the Big Government?

Only CNS posters would comment negatively on a Christmas Message. But wait they post negative comments about everything. Zzzzzzzzzz

How about a new years pledge negative posters.

I will refuse to look stupid by posting negative comments on everything

I will get the facts before commenting.

I will acknowledge when good work is being done or at least great effort is being made to do good work.

I will stop hating the civil service just because I didn’t get my permanent residence

I will stop hating the civil service just because they held me accoutable.

Just those few wishes could make CNS the best blog site.

Hahahahahaha. Let’s start the charity from the top and the rest will come with them! Show an example!

You do not need to be in possession of facts if you are freely expressing an opinion or simply wish to be thought provoking on a subject that is being reported.

For example, I think that it is significant that there are so many negative posts. Compared to the other daily publication that does not allow anonymity so easily, it has significantly less posts. People obviously enjoy freedom of expression and an outlet to vent frustrations even though they may be incorrect, I believe our government should pay attention to the negativity and accept the challenge to change minds for a positive outlook.

        …..just a thought.

Well, if they do = accept the challenge to change minds for a positive outlook i trust they will consider the plight of single mothers in CIG, as well as the working parents, noting that the interests rates are to increase very soon, the 2016 living rates increased as they do every year, and there the civil servants are working many years behind the national cost of living standards.
We are tired of “doing more with Less” and those who remain at work are unrewarded unless special favour is somehow bestowed usually by either pleading or by preference.
I would have liked to get the extra Christmas clean up cash but I could not go on the roads.
this has been a dry Christmas for many of us even as we put a smile forward we are hurting.
          Thank you Miss

Sure, the accôutablité of the CIG is second to none…or so exclaim the high-school-droppin’, proudly PR-stiflin’, sick-day-countin’, account-deletin’, gas-card-fuelin’, dunces whose comfortable bloat we are made to continually pay for.
