Cayman News Service(CNS): Police are on the hunt for two men who attempted to sexually assault a woman as she walked home from work on Thursday at around 9:45pm in Monument Road, Bodden Town. Police described the attempted rape as “violent and alarming” and are appealing for witnesses to the incident. The two men who attacked the woman dragged her from the road into some nearby bushes but she put up “strong resistance”, the police said. The woman was able to escape and run to a nearby house, where she got help and raised the alarm.Police said that early descriptions of the two suspects were limited but one was described as being taller than the other and both spoke with Caymanian accents.

“This incident is extremely violent in its nature and as such very alarming,” said Detective Chief Inspector Malcolm Kay, who is in charge of serious crimes. “I wish to appeal to anyone who was in the area and may have seen anything unusual around that time. I would also like to remind people to remain vigilant when out at night and take extra care when walking home.”

Members of the public who may have information about this crime that may assist in this investigation can contact any police station or crime stoppers at 800 TIPS (8477).

The Bodden Town Police have simply allowed this unlawful assortment of known criminals to constantly assemble at the top monument road on the public beach side and the launching ramp of both locals and outsiders. I am not surprise at this terrible rape attempt I am surprise it was not sooner. Not to mention the drug use and violence that occurs in that area. What I have note though is the Bodden town police now taking the back road behind Bodden Town Primary School to their police station to avoid travelling through central Bodden Town where they clearly need to be patrolling I guess if they See No Evil or hear no Evil. Their will be no paperwork I am going to reiterate the truth once again if they do not get fid of this very large foreign contingent in the RCIPS this place is going to continually become or end up just like their towns and cities.

Amen, but the problem is not a “foreigner problem’ it is a Caymanian one. Nearly every one of the hangers on at the public beach is a born Caymanian.

      • Anonymous says:

anon 201 pm thank you for pointing out that it is caymanians but you missed the entire point in that we have a largely made up police force of foreigners and the point was that they are not doing their job.

    • Rick says:

Who is in charge at the Bodden Town Police Station?

    • Anonymous says:

The RCIPS have to go. Decent people go to the beach they are questioned but the garbage that collects/congragates on that beach selling and using drugs are free to do whatever they want. They spend day and night on the beach. What are we going to d about it??

There should be a cop on every corner of the street.

Horrible and quite sad. Thankfully the lady escaped more harm but surely this experience must be traumatizing anyway. Hope the creeps are caught and successfully prosecuted. Good luck with that considering our RCIPS and DPP!

However,I note that if this had occurred in WB there would be shouts of “Gaza”, “cut it off from the rest of Grand Cayman”, political comments against WB representatives, etc., etc. Crime is despicable no matter where it occurs. Just note that it is the scourge of Cayman as a whole, not just West Bay!

    • Anonymous says:

Crime is everywhere but West Bay has the reputation it does for a reason.

      Thank you for reminding.

I will come if you can promise me there will be none of this constant praying that goes on all the time at these things.

We have a lot of criminals with get-out-of-jail-free cards now because of the number of witnesses who choose to remain silent. Maybe you should organize a I’m Fed Up And I’m Not Going To Remain Silent Any Longer Witness March.

It is getting to the stage where I am starting to think that unless RCIPS ups its game substantially, that there will be a need for vigilante or “Guardian Angel” type groups to patrol and take these punks down

Women SHOULD be allowed to carry pepper spray on this island!

    • Kmanlady says:

Cayman is no longer the safe country it use to be due to the numerous different nationalities living among us. Good law abiding person should have the rights to carry any weapon be it pepper spray, gun knife anything that can protect them from the criminals of the country.
Don’t allow good people to become bad just to protect their life family or home. Listen to us please!!!!

      • Anonymous says:

So it’s only the “different nationalities living among us” causing all the problems? Odd thing is if you look at the Court Lists you will see it’s a vast majority of born Caymanians causing the problems: the Connor boys, Anglins, Webster, Mandersons, Browns from West Bay, Robinson and Carter from Bodden Town, Hooker and Pouchie from George Town to name only a few out of the many who have appeared in the last week or so. Get your head out of the sand, bobo.

One of the best put downs of the “it’s not Caymanians committing the crimes” lies I have seen.

        • Shhhhhhhh. says:

Yep! It’s the favorite pass time of far too many Caymanians – blame then foreigners for everything. When will Cayman accept accountability for it’s own?

      • Anonymous says:

As a young Caymanian born and raised, Cayman is not the safe country it used to be e.g. leaving windows and door unlock and not have anyone try to assault you as you sleep. But the thing is that it is, sometime it is our own people who are causing these crimes. I am not saying that Caymanians commit every crime on this island, but what is sad is that some of us as a people are in so much denial that we would rather blame other nationalities out right than deal with the simple fact that it is our own that does the crime. The article said that the woman describe the attacker’s accents as Caymanian. Look at our prisons and see who the majority is. At the end of the day, Cayman isn’t the place where the people are marrying their own. Lets not discriminate because we are in denial.

I know right? It’s crazy how women here in Cayman are so vulnerable to this disgusting violence without anything to defend themselves with. Not even pepperspray. If your being attacked by a sexual predator then run. If you cannot run then grab on tight and bite. Bite them as hard as you can. Go for the face, fingers, groin… You can give yourself the space and time you need to escape and make it to the police. Plus the attacker will be easier to identify with a chunk missing from their face and two less fingers. I know it’s different if the attacker has a knife or gun but this is why women especially need to be able to carry pepperspray.

Judging from the votes on your comment it seems that you are not alone in your thinking. My girlfriend used to carry pepper spray that had a loud alarm that went off when activated which was so piercing anybody close by had to hear it. If the Rcips are worried about people using pepper spray for the wrong purposes. Bring in the ones that can only be used with the alarm at the same time.?

I wish this poor lady would have had a pocket knife on her person and then drove it to the handle in the groin of both of them. Malcolm wouldn’t have any problem then identifying who these two bastards were. I am a born and bred Caymanian but I am absolutely ashamed of some of them.

Worthless good for nothing dogs !!

Was it actually IN Monument Rd or (as the Compass says) in the vicinity of Monument Rd (for example on the main road)? Not that it lessens the vileness of the deed and all praise and good wishes to the lady.

Scumbags…..lowest form of life that would do something like that…one day the boomerang you have thrown will come back, and its going to take you out…hard I hope.

  12. Anonymous says:

Lady, you are my hero! So sorry you had to go through that.

  13. Clever Boy 345 says:

I hope that these two perverts are caught and charged. But I am happy that the lady was not raped.

  14. Anonymous says:

Please ladies get yourself a personal security alarm. In a case like this, where there is a house nearby, an alarm would have been heard. I know some people have their doubts, but the alarm can fit on a key chain or just be carried and once the pin is pulled (which is easy to do- even in a panicked situation)- it rings at high decibals (sp). They are very inexpensive- can be bought online if stores there do not carry them and are not illegal to carry. Also, IMO, no one would stick around to commit a crime with the alarm ringing

Glad this woman escaped, hopefully without too much physical harm and hopefully the 2 individuals will be caught.
