Boat on fire off North Side this morning

(CNS): Reports of a major boat fire off the coast of North Side have triggered a search and rescue operation. The RCIPS received reports around 6:30 this morning (Thursday 15 October) from members of the public indicating that a boat was on fire out to sea.  The police and the fire service are on scene but an RCIPS spokesperson stated that no distress calls had been made from any boats to either 911 or the Port Authority. Police said that searches in the area for people in the water are ongoing but that no one had been found so far.

It was ours and was stolen, feel bad for the owners not the people who were in it.

I am one of the co-owners. She was stolen last night and apparently torched this morning. She was a beautiful much loved craft which will be very sorely missed. There can’t have been any good reason to destroy her by fire – she would have fetched a high price on the black market. So we can only assume it was a bad one.
RIP Outrageous. We loved you. See you on the other side

So was it stolen? What boat was it?

Probably a smuggling boat. Burn and sink it to get rid of evidence and get another boat to shore.

A friend at North Pointe ( directly east of the old Driftwood (called this in) Her last FB post said it is now on the reef

Interesting. Is it a drug-related thing? Is it a Cuba migrant vessel? It looks like its not one of ours, or else we would have had a 911 call. Just more reasons why we need more equipment and resources for the vast ocean around us.

Could be an interesting day if the fumes drift over the island!

Worst nightmare. I hope the crew are found alive and well.
