Frank Volinsky Executive Director, Bridge Foundation

(CNS): The Bridge Foundation, which helps men and women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, is seeking support from the community to continue with its work. Residents of the facilities are referred to the charity from the Parole Board, Probation, Drug Court, Caribbean Haven or the Counselling Centre with the goal of transitioning those in recovery back into society. The charity has produced a video outlining the work it does and is hoping to solicit donations so it can continue helping those in need.

When the new cruise pier is built all the addicts will have jobs and there will no longer be a need for such services.

may I ask how have you come to that conclusion, please enlighten me into how you have determined that will end the addiction problem in our island?

What about the Hope Foundation? they also need assistance!

    • Anonymous says:

The Hope Foundation is on the news 24/7 looking assistance. Heck, I thought it was the only Foundation in Cayman.

Well there’s the Cayman National Cultural foundation who need the money to support it’s social life…gimme story is culturally important but not something that needs such massive Government funding.

The intent of the Bridge Foundation seems quite honourable indeed. However, how willing will support be received if their administrative processes may be questionable? If they were unable to inquire and coordinate with owners of adjacent private property before allowing it to be razed and valuable indigenous vegetation destroyed, how competent are they in rehabilitating humans?

BTW, how was that matter resolved?

I think the comment at 9.14am seems to be borne out by this post. Good luck to the Foundation in focusing on their good work in the face of those in the neighborhood trying to undermine that work.

@ 9:14 & 9:49am – I’d like to see your level of support should the house next door to yours become a half-way house.

So Mr Nimby, I take it you do not consider yourself a Christian? And what is wrong with neighbouring a halfway house? Is all you care about property prices?

  4. Anonymous says:

This organisation has done tremendous work helping local people rebuild their lives. That is despite the desperate interference of nimbys trying to sabotage it.
