(CNS): Cayman has been experiencing some spectacular electric storms over the last few days and the free light shows may continue this evening as forecasters say that a tropical wave passing to the south of the islands is expected to bring more stormy weather. Forecasters said that radar images show isolated showers around the Cayman area slowly moving westward.

With partly cloudy skies and a 30% chance of showers and some thunder winds will be east to southeast 5 to 10 knots and seas will be slight with wave heights of 1 to 3 feet. The outlook is for similar weather through Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the US National Hurricane Center is reporting that Tropical Storm Fred is expected to weaken as it makes its way west-northwest at 9mph through the middle of the Atlantic. Posing not threat to land the hurricane experts said the cyclone is likely to become a post-tropical low by tonight or Friday. The next weather system to watch is a tropical wave which is expected to move off of the west coast of Africa later today.

The system has some potential for slow development as it moves westward across the tropical Atlantic over the next few days. Forecasters said there was a medium chance of a tropical storm forming within the next five days.
