Martin Drive, George Town

(CNS): Shots were fired at a vehicle and building off Martin Drive in George Town early Saturday morning, police confirmed Monday. A report was made to police at around 3:30am 19 September about a gun being fired in the central area of the capital. When police arrived at the scene and checked the area, officers discovered a Suzuki with bullet holes in it and saw evidence of a nearby building also being fired at. No other details were given to the press.

This is the third serious incident that has taken place around the Martin Drive area in the last few months. In July Jason Powery was shot and killed outside the Globe Bar and earlier this month a man was stabbed and left bleeding behind the same bar. Police have charged two brothers with the killing of Powery and a 63-year-old man with attempted murder in connection with the stabbing.

Anyone with information about the latest this incident in the area is asked to call George Town CID at 949-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS) to remain anonymous.

Crime in Cayman should be of concern to all, ad just a few years ago this was unheard of. This level of crime was unthinkable prior to 2003. This is just the chickens coming home to roost; now is the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their country. If you see crime happening or have knowledge of a crime that took place, report it!
