(CNS): An abandoned 28ft motor boat and a package of what appears to be some 80lbs ganja on an East End beach are very likely connected to drug smuggling efforts, the police have said. Last Thursday a member of the public brought the overturned vessel to shore. Then five days later, on Tuesday 4 August, another member of the public alerted police after they discovered a package of vegetable matter resembling ganja on the beach near the Gun Bay area in the East End close to where the boat had also been pulled up.

An RCIPS spokesperson said that officers responded to the scene, retrieved the package of suspected drugs and searched the area. The package has now been taken into evidence and will be destroyed within 24 hours, the police added.

I have always wondered why we do not have a marine radar. On my boat radar I can pickup small boats 10 miles away.
A couple of well placed radars and you would see them coming in way before they made landfall.

Just imagine the fallout if a semisubmersible successfully landed its tonnage on our shores. Maybe it’s already happened a few times?

I am voting for Trump! We need someone to build a wall around our country to keep out the drug smugglers…

As much as I am against gun-running, I can’t help but wonder if anybody has considered checking the well-being of the boat’s former occupants? Where did they go – did they get out and swim in, did they fall out and drown? Unless its a bust (in which case you would expect the police to have seized the boat and its occupants) I find it most unusual that somebody would simply leave their stash and their boat out in the ocean for anybody to profit from.

Hopefully they drowned but I suspect they’re just hiding in plain sight amongst their fellow citizens.

Are you and so many others incapable of coming on here and having a sensible conversation without all the snide remarks? SMH.

It is more likely from Jamaica as someone quote $110 million transferred from Cayman to Jamaica per year! More likely drug money.

  8. Cousin Leroy says:

More dangerous Jamaican drug traffickers running around this little place with guns endangering the citizens of these Islands. What exactly is this foreign run RCIPS marine unit doing about protecting or borders???

It is mostly Caymanians smokin ganja, what is this Caymanian society doing about that? The Jamaicans wouldnt be bringing it if they didnt have a local to sell it to. As for the police force, the commissioner is foreign byt the deputy commisioner and the majority of the force are local.

You are deluded if you think that anybody but EVERY NATIONALITY smokes ganja my dear.

        x Expat!

    • Anonymous says:

Err, what would a caymanians only police force do? Not any better I suspect.

    • Anonymous says:

Blame the Jamaicans, there’s always Caymanians involved in drug runs to and from the island. Don’t be blinded by pride. Most probably one of your “family” members was involved because you’re all a bunch of inbreds anyway.

      Take that.

Nobody cares about marihuana anymore. The police are the only ones that still class it as ‘illegal’. For the most part, the public accepts it as a plant that people use recreationally to get a buzz. The war on marihuana will never be won. Face it. The war is what is keeping these smugglers alive. If legalized, they won’t have a job anymore. Get with the times.

    Most likely came from Jamaica.

Ganja is bad… so I burn it.
