(CNS): Police officers on patrol in West Bay on Tuesday evening conducted a stop and search on a man that ended up leading them to stolen goods from a burglary in the area earlier that day. An RCIPS spokesperson said uniform officers on patrol stopped the local 44-year-old man in the area of Powell Smith Drive at around 5:10pm on Tuesday, 11 August, though it is not clear what had aroused their suspicion to lead to the stop and search.

But when officers began their search, the suspect was found to be in possession of a cell phone and jewellery, which the officers suspected to be stolen. He was arrested and, following a search of his home elsewhere in West Bay, more suspected stolen property was recovered that police later discovered had come from a burglary that happened earlier that day on Captain Blodsit Road, not far from where the man was arrested. The man has been remanded in custody and is being held at the George Town Police Station.

Most of these thefts are driven by Drug addiction and the Drug culture. As a civilian I can spot the drug dealers on the streets and in their cars a mile away. The addicts follow them around like male dogs to a female in heat. It’s funny that no-one notices the bus drivers own brand new 50,000+ vehicles and police officers that were more bling than anyone could afford on a policeman’s salary.
