Burglars cut power in five different break-ins

Cayman News Service(CNS): Police are on the lookout for a gang of burglars caught on CCTV that have been cutting the power at various commercial premises in order to get in without raising the alarm. Business owners are being advised to check their security in relation to main power switches that are outside their premises to prevent the burglars from cutting off the electricity. The five separate break-ins happened in George Town in the early morning hours of Monday and Tuesday.

“CCTV shows between two and four men are responsible for these burglaries, as well as a woman who is described as thin with big Afro hair,” an RCIPS spokesperson said, adding that officers believe the burglaries are linked and that the gang used a vehicle.

Three of the five reported burglaries happened yesterday morning (Tuesday 18 August) sometime between 1am and 4am at Kingbird Drive, George Town. The thieves broke into Le Bleu bottled water, Superior Dry Wall and Avalon Marine. In each case, the electrical power was interfered with before the burglars forced the doors open and small amounts of petty cash were taken.

Two similar burglaries which happen in the early morning hours of the previous day had already been reported to police on Monday at Marshalls Car rental on Owen Roberts Drive and at the DOCU Centre on Hospital Road. While nothing was taken from the car rental, as the burglars may have been disturbed, petty cash was stolen from the DOCU. In both cases the electrical power was interfered with and the windows were smashed to gain entry.

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact George Town CID at 949-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

Yes, while you and I are busy working they are busy planning how to steal what we work for earnestly. But oh Mr. Bowen is a national hero; he shot that 21 year old punk that broke-in to his home and after 3 times of warning him not to come in he still had the audacity to push his way through; well needless to say he took a fat hollow-point and died shortly after. Too bad, too sad bo-bo. No pity on those who are raised to believe they can break-in to someone’s home and threaten their lives and steal their hard-earned possessions. This is the same 21 year old that REMOVED his ankle bracelet successfully BEFORE venturing off to break-in to someone’s home.
