Z99 van owned by Hurley’s Entertainment

(CNS): An on-air personality from a local radio station is wanted by police after leaving the scene of a smash just before midnight on Wednesday night. The RCIPS has confirmed that the Z99 van, owned by Hurley’s Entertainment, was being driven by one the station’s staff members when it ploughed into two parked cars, street furniture and vegetation in the parking lot of Queens Court, West Bay Road.

CNS understands that the wanted DJ had just left the upstairs Attic Bar in the shopping plaza when he got into the promotional van and collided with the cars before leaving the scene.

Police said the incident happened at around 11:59pm on 24 June and officers who attended the scene found that two parked vehicles, a Mercedes Benz SUV and a Honda Civic car had been damaged.

“The matter is under investigation by officers from the George Town Police Station, who so far have identified the driver of the van to be an employee of Z99 FM radio station. The investigators are pursuing a particular line of enquiry. No arrests have been made,” the RCIPS stated.

It is understood there were number of witnesses to the incident and a Facebook discussion about the incident has named the alleged DJ involved.

Whatever happened to the “old guard” at Z99? Brian & Biff, Chuck Vance, Gavin and Derek/ Patrick?
    Those were the days…

I don’t understand why the person can’t be named. Once the name is out then the public can help find him/her.

  3. Diogenes says:

So who is the driver? Barefoot says any suggestion it’s his friend is a lie, anonymous says it is Barefoot’s pal, there are how many people in the Attic who know who was there, and it has to be a Z99 employee… This cannot be a mystery to anyone other than the RCIPS., and God knows how they have not worked it out given the overwhelming evidence. This just makes it look like everyone other than the RCIPS knows, and no one will tell them…the reality is worse, they KNOW and are doing jack.

For Anonymous – 11:26 AM 6 27-15 / First off I don’t know the person who drove the van…So he’s not by “buddy”- seems like you are pointing the finger at the wrong person, However this is not surprising for those who hide behind an anonymous rather than give their true name. In my opinion one walks on the dark side when you are empowered by the fact that you don’t have to be liable for your opinions. If you stood by our opinions, put our name next to it. The nastiness in the comment sections of CNS is amazing. One thing I do notice the insults and downright slander are not just targeted at foreigners , many of the anonymous also target the indigenous Caymanians, like in this case for example. It’s “dog eat dog hearsay ” . Yes , I do agree with you on one thing, its time for a cartoon…about the general uncouthness of persons making unfounded, malicious and uncalled for comments here and on other social media.

Drink drivers are scum of the earth. Those that kill when drunk should go to jail like murderers. Those that make excuses for drink drivers and drunk killers are part of the problem.

Wonder when his buddy gonna draw a cartoon for this……

    • When the identity of the person responsible is published, you should be embarrassed by this remark because you’re dead wrong. And then you should apologise.

All you need to do is go on the Z99 Facebook page on the date in question that the incident occurred and you will clearly see who the culprit was, as he states he is at the location with the “last ticket”.

Lets see if Randy do to him what they did Austin. SmH

Wrong. Just tell the court the driver was TOO drunk to remember what he did. What a laughing stock our judicial has become

  8. Anonymous says:

Failing to stop should come with an automatic additional DUI conviction. Most of the reasons that these drivers now flee is because they have been drinking. Much much tougher DUI laws are needed.

  9. Anonymous says:

we know its a local otherwise they would of named him
How hard could it be to find and arrest this person

Merrens are tough people. Plently blood sweat and tears helped them build this country for many of us to enjoy today. Instead of being so judgmental, we should offer support.

Offer support to his kids or those other family members that were blind or uniformed of his disgraceful behaviour. Thats it.

He knew full well what he was doing and he has done it many times. You dont get involved with 3000lbs of coke the first time you deal it . Undercover does not show up on your door and arrest you with a boatload of evidence against you. Not the FBI – DEA bobo. Remind you of someone else?

He has disgraced and embarasssed his family name, a mark that lasts forever. Forgive him or pray for a guy that has shipped TONS OF COCAINE!

He helped with laundering the proceeds amongst other things, and without that integral role in drug smuggling, you have no operation.

He has destroyed the lives of countless people because of his greed and nothing else.

He has time to think and pray about that.

No, I find it quite easy to judge someone who runs from an accident to avoid an alcohol test.

      • Anonymous says:

Is commenting negatively about wholesale drug deals being “judgemental”?

The Merren’s seem to be taking some licks today in the news, first Bryce, now one of their employees, I wonder what the 3rd incident will be……. President’s Choice pulls the plug?
