$100 taken in ‘terrifying’ home invasion

crime(CNS): A 67-year-old woman and her five-year-old granddaughter were subjected to a terrifying ordeal when three masked men burst into a West Bay home and demanded cash at around 2:30pm Wednesday 3 June. As the three unarmed but violent and aggressive men entered the house on Billy Manderson Drive, they grabbed the woman by the neck and forced her to the ground.

The women repeatedly yelled that there was no money and the men should leave, and after searching the house and stealing $100 from her bag the men fled on foot.

The grandmother and her 5-year-old grandchild were both extremely shaken up by the incident but did not receive any serious injuries, police said, adding that they were treated by attending paramedics after the home invaders escaped from the premise in the Town Hall Road area of West Bay.

The first masked man was described as around 6’1” with a slim build. His face was covered with a bandana and wore a dark shirt. He also wore a wig on his head held in place by a cap, police stated.

The second man was under 6’ and wore light coloured jeans and an orange jacket. He also wore a wig and a Halloween clown mask and spoke with a Caymanian accent. The third man was said to be wearing dark clothing but no other description was given to officers.

Police are appealing to the public for any information to identify the individuals.

“This was a terrifying ordeal for both the grandmother and child who witnessed the entire incident,” an RCIPS spokesperson said, urging anyone with information to contact the West Bay – CID on 949-3990, any police station or Cayman Crime Stoppers to remain anonymously on 800 8477 (TIPS).

…did not receive any serious injuries.. Enough of this!!!!!!
Mental, psychological and emotional injuries last life time and set a cascade of destructive reactions in one’s body that lead to all kind of physiological diseases and disorders.

Post 5:58pm – please stop with the West Bay rants. Crime is all over this island and being from West Bay I can assure you that it is not as bad as the media makes it seem. FOR some reason West Bay has always been the target of the news, anything happens in West Bay the headlines are big and bold make that same problem happen in South Sound you will never hear about it and trust me it happens. This is the reason we will have issues on this island because people like you with small mentalities and ignorance. The crime is island wide and we must all stand together and demand that our courts do better in retaining and actually charging these repetitive criminals. Of course it starts at home with teaching our children how to respect, have morals and just be a good citizen.

It is very unfortunate that we have a society of greedy bastards that believe they have a right to break into a home and demand someone’s hard earned money and items while causing permanent psychological damage. I hope that the police find them and the courts do their job and throw away the key.

The trouble is that your problems and your elected solutions adversely affect the rest of the island.

The fact that your leader thinks gangs are trade organisations to be negotiated with and that the police have no role to play in crime prevention tells us all we need to know.

WEST BAY IS WHY WE MUST HAVE OMOV!!!!

To Party on – so I assume your reasoning also applies to George Town and Bodden Town as well. What do you have to say about the 100+ burglaries over the last week, perpetrated in BT by BT and GT gangs?

Ah the progress and rewards that West Bay has gained after so many returns of the same political team. Keep it going. Keep it going. Promised land soon come.

Mac promised to meet with his constituent thugs and bring an end to this West Bay terror. I guess he just got too busy attacking the premier, etc etc ad nauseum to get around to this rehabilitation of his electors and their kin. Enough is enough Mac, just shut up will you.

Yep. It looks like Mac spoiled the gene pool in WB for the sole reason of winning an election with faithful followers who believe anything he says. Shame Shame Shame

This issue is not caymankind, this is crimekind. We all need to stop the protecting one and bashing the other one attitude. Why can’t we all realize that this is a serious crime and everyone fight to stop it , because these criminals don’t care who they steal from. Remember the next one they rob could be you or your grandmother . It looks like they don’t care what part of the Islands you live. BE PART OF THE SOLUTION , NOT PART OF THE PROBLEMS.
