(CNS): One man arrested in a police operation this week has been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and wounding in connection with a shooting in McField Square last weekend. The 34-year-old George Town man was arrested with two others, who have since been released on police bail. The man, who is in police custody, will appear in court next week regarding the shooting of three women in the early morning hours of Saturday 28 March at a late night session in the square in the heart of central George Town.

Police said investigations continue into the shooting, in which three women were shot and one seriously injured. The police were informed of the women’s injuries by the hospital when they arrived at the emergency room. The women were believed to be in the company of a known West Bay gang member when they were shot.
