Machete wielding robber strikes at booze shop

(CNS): A masked man armed with a machete escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash Tuesday night after robbing the Tortuga Liquor Store at the Strand on the West Bay Road, police revealed Wednesday. An RCIPS spokesperson said that around 9:20 yesterday evening (21 April) the man entered the liquor store and demanded cash from the registers. The cash was handed over and the robber took off on foot. No employees or customers were injured during the incident, police confirmed.

Detectives are now seeking the public’s help to find the man, who was around 5’5” tall with a Caymanian accent. He was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap, his face was covered and he wore sunglasses. He was dressed in a dark long-sleeved shirt, black jeans and black shoes.

Anyone who was in the area between 9:15pm and 9:20pm and saw someone behaving suspiciously or who may have seen a dark coloured SUV leaving the area of Earth Close off West Bay Road is asked to contact George Town Police Station – CID on 949-4222 or Cayman Crime Stoppers on 800-8477 (TIPS)

    Try that round where I come from in the USA and the store owner would double-tap the scumbag with .40 cal hollow-points. It’s time to let people fight back and put a stop to this.
