Machete booze shop robber strikes again

The man who was armed with a machete demanded cash and made off with an undisclosed sum of cash from the till. The culprit was as 5′ 9″ tall, wearing long black pants, black shirt, black ski mask and gloves. Police say he exited the store and escaped to the rear of Hurley’s Supermarket. Police have confirmed that no one was injured during the course of the robbery.
This crime comes just days after the Tortuga Liquor store on West Bay Road, near The Strand shopping plaza, was also robbed by a suspect wielding a machete.
The Blackbeard’s store has been the scene of a number of armed hold-ups over the last few years, including the infamous “Not Today Bobo” incident, in which two young armed offenders were apprehended by local people with a shotgun, as well as a robbery of the store and customers the week before Christmas by masked armed men who stole over $5000. Four men have been charged and are now awaiting trial.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed anything unusual to contact the George Town Police Station at 949-4222 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS).
Security guards are not the answer. Better lighting after sunset would provide better security. With the availability of vary bright LED lights the exterior of these plazas could be lit up for great visibility for pennies a day. This applies to the parking areas as well.
