(CNS): Three men were arrested on Monday afternoon on suspicion of attempted murder and firearm offenses in relation to the shooting of three women at a late night session at J’ahT’s in McField Square, George Town, in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police said the men were rounded up during two separate proactive operations in George Town.

The three suspects, aged 34, 30 and 26, are currently in police custody as enquiries continue. Police confirmed this morning that two of the injured women, one of whom received multiple gunshot wounds, are still in hospital, while a third had been treated and discharged.

The police were alerted to what is believed to be a gang-related shooting by the Cayman Islands Hospital after the women turned up at accident and emergency around 4am on Saturday. Police have not yet confirmed any details about what happened, though other sources tell CNS that the women may have been with a known West Bay gang member at the late night session, who may have been the target of the latest street violence.

The lead officer on the case, Detective Chief Inspector Malcolm Kay, said a major incident room has been established and he has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

“As the investigation into this indiscriminate shooting continues, we are still very interested in speaking to anyone who was in the vicinity of McField Square off School Road at approximately 4.00am on Saturday morning (28 March) to come forward and contact us at George Town CID on 949 4222 , the MIR on 926 3975 or Crime Stoppers on 1 800 TIPS,” he said.
