Firefighter douses garbage fire near CUC pole

(CNS): The sight of a burning garbage container in the heart of downtown George Town caused several people call in to the Fire Service Monday afternoon. The blaze ignited in a garbage container outside a Mary Street office block, dangerously close to a CUC pole. However, despite the small explosions and flames licking the building and the bush, a firefighter make short work of dousing what could have become a dangerous blaze had it got any closer to the power pole. It is not clear what caused the fire.
