(CNS): The Cayman Islands Crisis Centre is hoping to raise some much-needed funds at a luncheon event, where the guest speaker will be environmental activist Erin Brockovich, the inspiration behind the 2000 Oscar Award winning movie Erin Brockovich, starring Julia Roberts in the title role, and the impelling force behind the largest medical settlement lawsuit in history.

The only safe haven for women and their children who are the victims of abuse, the Crisis Centre is seeking sponsors for the event, entitled Power of the Purse Luncheon, which will take place on 25 March at the Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman.

Organisers say the luncheon will host over 250 of Cayman’s most highly accomplished, respected and affluent women and men. Brockovich as the guest speaker, will share her story, made famous by the movie, and the power of a single person to make incredible changes to benefit people who might otherwise be voiceless.

The event will also include a silent auction for designer handbags and raffle tickets for some great gifts, with all proceeds going to the Crisis Centre, and organisers say it will be an opportunity for people to network, be recognized for their contributions and learn how they can make a difference.

Scotiabank is a Platinum Sponsor and Ernst & Young is a Gold Sponsor for the event but the Crisis Centre is hoping that more sponsors will step up.

Tickets for the luncheon will cost $150 per person and $1350 per table of ten. For more information regarding tickets or sponsorship contact Alejandro Ruiz on 945 8188 or email alejandro.ruiz@fountainhead.ky.

I think we have much more to worry about than Erin’s alarmist views on stainless steel plates in HHO cells. Beside’s dissolved metals don’t typically make it through reverse osmosis membranes and most of us have an HHO cell under the hood or in our house don’t we? Anyone drinking groundwater should be worried about other nasties like giardia and other pathogens potentially found in improperly treated sewage.

Anyway, makes for a good spectacle and a nice vacation for Erin.

Ask Bush, he can afford to loose 250k in a casino, so do NOT bother me.

Perhaps some NGO should invite Ms. Brokovich to speak about the dangers of Mount Trashmore and the noxious smells it emits. Her legacy is the progress she made in addressing groundwater contamination – quite fitting to have her raise more awareness on our own toxic waste dump.

Could this message please be sent to Erin?
Hexavalent Chromium, the carcinogenic which she campaigned about, is unwittingly being produced by many experimenters trying to run engines, everything from lawnmowers to big trucks, in what are called HHO cells.
Electrolysis of water in cells fitted with Stainless Steel plates results in a soft brown sediment after a few months of use. I understand this contains the same carcinogenic Hexavalent Chromium.
The people experimenting with this kit, understandably trying to improve fuel economy, are almost certainly unaware of the danger and are likely pouring the dangerous dirt down the drain every time the HHO cells need cleaned out.
    Watch Youtube for examples.
Concern has been around for a time but is not getting publicity:

Erin is the only person with integrity to warn the public and to whom those with prototype SS plate HHO cells might listen.
There are alternatives like Titanium plates which don’t cause the problem.
If you are attending this fund raiser, please copy this note and give it to her. Thanks.
