Young motorbike rider injured in crash

(CNS) Update: A 21-year-old motorbike rider underwent surgery at the Shetty hospital after he was thrown from his bike Sunday in East End, the police revealed Monday afternoon. The RCIPS said that just after 7pm on Sunday 4 January, police were notified of a crash on Sea View Road between a motorbike and a car. The rider was thrown on impact during collision and landed on the asphalt. He was transported to the Health City Cayman Islands facility, where he was treated and admitted for head  injuries.

Earlier police said the rider was travelling from the East End Rubis gas station heading towards Bodden Town when the accident occurred. Police have not yet stated what type of car was involved but other sources have stated that it was being driven by visitors to the island.

The matter remains under investigation by officers from the Bodden Town Police Station.
