(CNS): An elderly woman died at Owen Roberts International Airport earlier this month due to natural causes, police have confirmed. The 80-year-old woman, who was visiting Cayman with her family from the United Kingdom, became ill in the departure lounge on Sunday 4 January at around 2:15pm.

Officials said airport emergency personnel administered CPR to the women before the ambulance arrived but they were unable to revive her. She was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town, where she was pronounced dead. Police said the matter was reported to them and officers attended the hospital and made inquiries. The woman was in the company of her son and his wife no foul play is suspected, the RCIPS said.

    Condolences to the lady’s family.
Presumably the “airport emergency personnel” who administered CPR were trained CI Fire Service staff. Curious to know if any other airport staff are current in CPR training (which some undertook some years ago).
