Search on for missing woman
CNS): Updated 1:30pm Police have now confirmed that a search is on for a missing woman who has not been seen since Saturday evening. Officers from the RCIPS said they are concerned for the safety and well-being of Kerran Natalee Baker, known to friends as Kerry-Berry. She is 25-years-old and lives alone in Arrow Drive, Bodden Town. The last confirmed sighting of her was around 5:00pm on Saturday evening, when she was seen driving her white Honda Civic in the Red Bay area. One of Kerry's friends tried to call her on Saturday evening and on Sunday but received no response. As a result she went to Kerry's home and, with the assistance of the landlord, entered the house. Having found Kerry's bag and groceries she had bought on Saturday on the kitchen counter the friend contacted the police.
“The fact that Kerran left the house without her handbag is very unusual,” said Detective Superintendent Marlon Bodden. "She also uses her phone a lot – but none of her friends or family have received any calls or messages from her since Saturday evening.”
The senior officers said that door to door enquiries have been conducted in the area of Arrow Drive and contact is currently being made with Kerry's family and friends in an attempt to trace her.
“Road patrol officers and the RCIPS Air Operations Unit have been searching for her car which was found a short time ago parked in the Pedro Castle area. A search in that area is currently ongoing. The search teams include the RCIPS K-9 and Air Operations Units. As yet, no trace of Kerran has been found. I would ask anyone who saw Kerran after 5pm on Saturday evening to contact us immediately. We need to make sure that she is alive and well,” Bodden added.
She is described as being around 5’5” in height and approximately 135 lbs. She has brown eyes and dark shoulder length hair. At this stage there is no description available of the clothes she was last seen wearing.
Anyone with any information about Kerran should contact George Town police station on 949-4222.

This does not sound like a random case. Presumably the police are checking the whereabouts of persons who might have a motive to do her harm both here and in her native Jamaica.

All of these forensic experts posting on CNS and criminals still getting off. Everything you have suggested I am sure the police have considered. I know the comments are well intentioned but what is more valuable is if someone knows something relevant and shares this with the police. Instead of posting useless comments why dont we instead start soliciting donations to offer a reward ?

What can we do to help? Are the public allowed to join a search and if so, when and where?
Most likely the public will
Most likely the public will find her or solve the case for the police. History has proven this before in the Schirn case.
If the vehicle was found in
If the vehicle was found in the Pedro's area and it was close to the sea, I would ask whether or not the coastline is also being searched. I wish all who are searching for this woman all the success and I also pray that she is found alive and well.
Every ones idea in this
Every ones idea in this situation is important and I know will be much taken by the Police. Have the Supermarkets or stores check their cameras and outside of the supermarkets too. Her friends will probally know where she usually shopped.Fingerprints from the car, the house and her boyfriend and associates should be able to give information as well. Did she have any reason to be on the Pedro Castle road ? Who was the last person that she spoke to? Needs alot of people helping with this. The Public is very witty and willing. Dont be afraid to call on them Mr Marlon. We have quite a few retired and brilliant Police. Numbers make strength.
This is all too scary. I am
This is all too scary. I am a female Caymanian, and I find it scary to be on this island that I call home. It's to the point where I would feel safer living in the US... I mean I find myself terrified if I need to go to my car at night...in my own yard! I don't trust anyone anymore, and can't tell the last time I had a decent night's sleep. What has Cayman come to? Why don't the police know more than they do.? I find it strange that people can sit down and spread gossip on person a or b, but the minute that there is a search on for someone everyone's mouths seem to clam up? Come on people, if you know something, pass it on. This young lady's life could be in danger.
Kerran, I hope they find you safe.
And people, stop spreading stories unless you have the facts to support them! She has a family, and friends who don't need to hear the negative scenarios that are coming up in people's minds. What they need is hope, give it to them. Those of you that were shopping on Saturday, try to remember if you saw her, remember what she was wearing.....
To her neighbours... did u hear the car drive in? or out again? Try to remember what you were watching on tv, as that will give an idea of the time she arrived/left.... People, the things that you think are insignificant, could shed some light on the situation....If you saw/heard something, SAY IT. If you think you saw something, SAY THAT TOO. I mean say i to the police, not just to your neighbour. As upset as I am with the slackness of our police force, the reality of it is if they have nothing to go on, it will be harder to move ahead, but with feedback from the public, they can be steered in a better direction.....
Wow This has become quite
Wow
This has become quite serious now since Saturday being missing with no word or for anyone to be able to contact her.
I send my prayers that she will be found safe.
Keep praying Cayman
All of a sudden every blogger

"Trained officers"??? Let me ask you a few questions. Where is Anna? Who shot Kemar in the FACE?!?!? Who shot the lady at the gas station weeks ago? Who has been robbing the banks? Who have been solving the home invasions? If the "TRAINED OFFICERS" were known to solve crimes, I could understand your comment.
I apologize if I DO NOT share your confidence.
The police are not psychics!
The police are not psychics! It's people like you who do not have confidence in them- having preconceived ideads that have no "backing" hence, withholds vital informaton, which would eventually lead to many crimes being (1) DITECTED (2) SOLVED. Many people criticize the police, but they are the same ones that witness the crimes, and then put their "tails between their legs" Give the police the information when they knock on your door and stop being a "brat" And no, I am not a police, just being REAL!!!!!
AMEN

let me ask you a simple question???? if you were in a situation whether it be a missing family member, robbery of yourself or house any crime commited against you of sort...who are you gonna call...the Us Air Force??? until yourself come up with a better well "Trained police force....your just blowing hot air....
Might as well call the US air
Might as well call the US air force. We'd get the same amount of crimes solved... NONE!
Folks are worried about this
Folks are worried about this young lady. So why are you even going there? Do you know what It's like to loose someone? Leave the pple alone, let they say what's on their mind. I'm not from the Cayman Islands and I'm worried sick already. Cause every day another person went missing. And yes, I do hope and pray that they find her.
anon at 18:19, there are
anon at 18:19, there are people who genuinely care about other people. In case you don't have human feeling and emotion for other human beings , there are persons living on this Island who care for other people, not just their family or country men. we want to help, thats why we are make suggestions to the police because no police force can police a country or community without the assistance of the populace. We are praying for the safe return of this young lady.
Sounds like your a criminal
Sounds like your a criminal Investigator too! because for some reason out of my last post your assuming im not a bit concerned or worried just like everyone else for the safe return of this young lady. Do you honestly think your "Genuine" concern is gonna bring her back any faster for you??? If one of your family members went missing who you gonna call??? the Ghostbusters?? ...no the RCIP right? give the officers a chance, and stop beaten them down before they get to a conclusion. Give credit where credit is Due!
Let's not get too far ahead
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves here. The investigation is ongoing, let's see what it reveals.
15:58 I agree with you in
15:58 I agree with you in regards to the thumbs down on 13:37. They are not only sick but down right WICKED and EVIL to give thumbs down, when others are praying for a safe return. Would you have done the same for your mother, sister, daughter, neice if they were missing. Sometimes I wonder who gave birth to you evil people. SATANIC thumbs down. Go pray and ask for forgiveness.
Just hoping for the best!

This is scary/sad. I
This is scary/sad. I pray they find her. People stop stating the obvious. The police know the very basics such as phone tracing, forensics, fingerprints, searching the area she was last seen, questioning her friends and family, searching the water.the relationship status in any missing case is the first thing they consider. (Duh)
If you cant add anything that is not already known try add a positive thought nah. Geesh
Boy i hope they does find
Boy i hope they does find this girl safe and sound. We don needs these thing happen in Cayman. Get to point women not safe go out. I not am like this way thing are going.

Pretty scary how many women
Pretty scary how many women get abducted in Cayman
Who said she was abducted?
Who said she was abducted?
Precisely.
Precisely.
These police in Cayman are
These police in Cayman are worthless………. the first thing when a person is missing should be to go to the phone service to verify the tower there phones last hit came from then they will have a general idea as to which area or area's they should search. Groceries where found in here house contact the super market ask them to roll back the camera's locate her on it find out what she was wearing. Come on now people I am a civilian and I can investigate better than then for heaven sacks.......I hope she is found and brought home to her family safe...........If she was a MLA's daughter they would have taken all measures to find her it has been proven when they want to do their job they can do….. it was proven with Estella.
Bring her home safe
14:54 your an idiot..... if
14:54 your an idiot..... if your such a good investigator join the service and do your part..
Speculation is
Speculation is counterproductive, and fuels unnecessary resentment and discord, (in some cases unfortunate accord) in the community. Nowhere is it stated that the police have not contacted the phone companies to trace this young lady’s phone, nor is it stated that they have not contacted the supermarket, or conducted any other enquiry for that matter. May I suggest that we leave our clairvoyant exercises to Ms. Cleo and John Edward and be more positive by putting some thought before our tongue. Thanks.
I doubt that it is expected that the police post guard at every residence and business. Unfortunately when it comes to these types of suspected crimes, police involvement is 99.99% reactive. Police can only try to pick up the pieces, and make a picture from the scant evidence left behind and even more scant information provided to them by citizens.
If the speculation is true, and this young lady has been abducted, it is nothing less than another disturbing and very sad time for this country generally. But let’s not blame the police; what we are dealing with in Cayman is much larger than the RCIPS. Crime is only one part (although a significant part) of a collection of social issues that the whole country is facing but only a handful are addressing. May I ask, “What have you done lately?” It is times like these that we need to band together and be as supportive to the police as possible. Surely there may be a handful of bad apples in the Service but I would venture to say that most of them really want to see a reduction in crime, if for nothing more than to have a day off.
I pray that this young lady is returned safely to a place of her choosing, and that any and all offenders are brought to justice.
Pax Vobiscum
Why dont you just keep your
Why dont you just keep your thoughts to yourself. If you cant say anything constructive - then zip it. The police will have done all this and more. They cannot tell us their every move
14.,54 What makes you think
14.,54 What makes you think the police haven't already had all the ideas you put forward? Why do you assume you're so much smarter than our trained officers? Don't you imagine they've learned a lot through their experience with the Estella Scott Roberts case?
Duh?! I think they would
Duh?! I think they would have done that and more. Maybe you should show some initiative and drive and become a police officer yourself given that you have all the answers. I know there are many detectives working on this case now and that the full resources of the police are being deployed.
From a "worthless" police officer.
I am not the original poster,
I am not the original poster, but I'll reply to your post nevertheless... Regardless of what the original poster had to say, the fact of the matter is that the community at large has little if any confidence in the RCIPS. Though I wouldn't go as far as saying that the RCIPS has proven time over that it is worthless, I would go as far to say that many of its members are either lazy, incompetent, undertrained, uncaring or utterly confused. Your comment, "Duh?! I think they would have done that and more", regarding what the police has done and would have done already is not necessarily true - when it comes to the RCIPS, expect the unexpected... In other words, just because it's obvious to the common person, it doesn't mean that it was done by the RCIPS - yes, the public thinks that lowly of you! Although nobody likes to be criticized, the criticism is well deserved. Once the RCIPS proves that it can do its job more than once out every 100 times, public opinion will side with you.
17:01 then you are living in
17:01 then you are living in danger, if the police are no good . If i think like that you i would be in in fear every day.Who do you want to police the Islands? The French foreign Legion? The FBI or Scotland maybe? Your house, your assetts, your family are in danger. We have a worthless police service. Can you believe it? Its people like you negative people who don't expect anything good or or positives out of our organizations that make the other's lives so stressful in this Society.Throw your support behind the police and watch the progress of the investigation. When we see people bash police so much we have to wonder if they have an axe to grind or a history with the police?
Having known several
Having known several detectives over the years, I think your comments show complete ignorance of the process and the challenges detectives face here and everywhere.
This all comes down to evidence, witnesses and leads. The outcome of an investigation is typcially a product of these three factors. A detective cant generate these out of thin air, and it is a reality that if these three factors are light, a case goes unsolved.
True! But the RCIPS are not
True! But the RCIPS are not exactly renowned for their investigating skills -__-

The dogs should be searching Pedro Castle area, to pick up her scent or the person's scent who parked her car there. Who is she dating, has the police held him for questioning, has she been trying to break off with anyone? Who was she seen with last. What about fingerprints from the steering wheel and dna in the car ? Obviously she did not drive her car to pedro castle! Come on police ask for help before its too late.
